Credit ran without authorization signature

Can anyone tell me what rights I have? A real estate agent in a state different than the one I live in told a mortgage company that she had my signature authorization to obtain my credit as I was looking to do a lease/purchase option on one of her homes. The place that ran my credit took her word that she had that authorization and have promised me their full cooperation. She is listed with her local real estate entities and also listed as having gone through the real estate ethics course as well.

I have researched and come up with some different information and I am trying to determine what is accurate.
Is there a statute of limitations on how long I have to go after her for this?
Do I do so in my own state, in her state, or both?
I was told that her, her broker and others that she is under could have financial liability for her doing this and that there is most often a monetary settlement, as well as a great possibility of other fines, possible jail time and the loss of her real estate license. Can anyone confirm any of this to be true or false?

Thanks
