I recently signed up for a rewards program where you can win big screen tvs, xbox, and just about anything you can think of. For every reward you enter you get so many points toward a reward. a co worker found a way to enter serial numbers that will give him points he didnt earn. My question is if he enters these points is he subject to any charges that could be filed? If so what ones and do the vigerously pursue these kind of matters. He already got a couple things but nothing real expensive yet. Would this be criminal or just a cival matter?

It sounds like a form of counterfeiting to me, like using a fake token on the subway, or making fake tickets to redeem at Chucky Cheese. I believe that's a crime.

However, even if the DA didn't prosecute, the company he's defrauding can sue him for the cost of everything he has received, and then some.

NOT a good idea all around.
