Consumer Law, Warranties Consultant Breach of Contract

I signed a six month consultant service agreement contract to perform a specific duty. I ended my contract 3 month early due to thinking my work was completed and also getting the approval from the Project Manager. Unfortunately, the contract officer said that I had prematurely end my contract and thus breached the agreement. They said that If I don't complete my terms, they will sue for loss of revenue. Also, the PM was fire for his action. What rights do I have? Should I go back and fullfill my contract to prevent legal action against me?
