My boyfriend and i have been talking about getting married, he has been in the states for 15 years, applied for his papers in 2001, and i am a US citizen. He has a friend who will sponser him. I want to know if we get married what burdens will fall on me? or what disadvantages would it cause for me as a citizen?

He has more concerns than you do - you need to prove it's a bona fide marriage under penalty of perjury. I'm not sure there is a disadvantage but I'm also not sure why you're talking about his possibly being sponsored as well. Are you not wanting to get married but that is an option if sponsorship doesn't work out? The easiest route is continuing to date and let him get sponsorship the alternative way, no?
