I had recently asked for help with relinguishing my vehicle. And I did receive it. Now I need to see if I am in the right with the collection agency. When I relinguished my vehilce, I signed the title and sent it certified mail to the towing company. I have a collection agency tring to get payment. I received a letter from the ca in May, they wanted payment in the $2004. So I sent them a letter asking for validation. When I received the second letter it wasn't what I had requested, and now they have raised the amount to $5153.
Do they have a right to come after me once I turned over the title? I was told that once I signed the back of the title, under the transfer of ownership, then I have no right over the vehicle and they have no right in trying to get money from me. Plus I had made a copy of the title before I sent the original to the towing company.
Can you give a little input on whether or not they are justified or just being greedy?
