If someone wanted to do independent testing at a Forensic Lab on postmortem blood being held by the County Medical Examiner, does the court order have to specify that it must be shipped by chain of custody in order to do so--and must it be listed on the petition also? Can it be shipped by chain of custody if not listed on the petition or court order? I need this information as soon as possible.

Thanks so much,

Any evidence brought to court must be relevant and reliable. If there is not an established chain of custody then it might not be admissible or might be of questionable relevance. Have you asked your attorney?
