I am 18 years old and recently got caught shoplifting at a Store name in Texas. I stole about 80 dollars worth of clothes but no police were involved. I had to sign a paper reinstating that i was banned from the store. They also said a fine letter will be sent to my house. I was wondering how long it might take for the letter to arrive and also when it does, if I just pay the fine will it be done with? Thank you so much!
I suspect the fine is "Civil Demand" this is a non criminal action (its civil) It appears the store is happy with the civil fine and the banning. This is good for you as once you pay this should be over
Your letter can take days, weeks even, months. It depends on how busy the Civil Recovery service is. For an $80.00 theft expect your fine to exceed $300.00
I just received the civil demand letter. I was wondering if this was going to be on my permanent record and would affect me getting a job later in the future aside from retail. Again police did not show up. Thanks you soooo much
Civil Demand is a civil action and does not show up on criminal background checks. You ronly concern shouyld be if the store that stopped you belongs to a retail theft database and inputted your name in there
