Parking, Access Car Damage from property gate

While exiting my complex the exit gate closed on my car and damage the side. I spoke with the property management and emailed the situation and pictures of my car. I received an email response saying the property management is not liable due to Paragraph 24 "We're not liable to any resident, guest, or occupant for personal injury or damage, loss of personal property.." Is this used in the right context? Who is considered liable if a gate malfunction and damage people cars?

You let your auto insurance handle it. Sometimes, stuff happens and no-one is really at fault.

Agree, notify your car ins. co. & let them handle. That is what they are there for.
