Can't pay Swiss hospital bill!

I was in an accident in Switzerland that
involved hospitalization.......
My insurance won't pay and i can't pay the $3000.

What can they do to me now that I'm back home in the US...... if I default?

Is there a way to ask for them to write it off to charity?

Any info or links appreciated.

They can sue you for the money.
