16 yr old injured in one vehicle auto accident. He was passenger. Severe injuries. Has totally recovered at this point. In order to maximize his recovery - policy is 50/100 - can parents file separate claim for medical bills since we are responsible for them, freeing up all of 50000 for his claim?

If he has recovered, how is the additional $50,000 going to help "maximize" the recovery?
Have his medical bills been paid? If so, that comes out of the $50,000 amount. And if not, then any award will likely go for medical expenses and attorneys fees before you see any of it.
Or, is this merely a way to try and squeeze a few dollars out of the deal?
