Hi - my brother is looking to purchase a two bedroom apt in a co-operative in the Bronx for himself and will be having our parents live with him. He will be paying for the down payment which is 55% of the purchase price and taking out a mortgage for the remaining 45%. He has completed an application for the apartment but the cooperative is insisting that our parents complete an application and background check also. My concern is the legality of their request since my brother is the one who is applying and taking out the mortgage and paying the down payment. Can they legally ask all adults living in the apartment to fill out an application as well? Thank you
