I sold a boat in Michigan close to the end of winter. The buyer had the boat inspected before purchase. Then he agreed to buy it and signed an As Is contract agreement. He has had the boat for about a month and a half. He called and said that the engine block is broke and wants me to pay for it to get fixed. He thinks the boat wasen't stored correctly (it was in heated storage) causing water in the engine to freeze and break the engine block which makes me liable. However, I believe the boat was stored correctly, he bought it at the end of the winter and took it out of storage and took it home without storing it and the weather was still cold maybe freezing. He told me after he took it home it started up great and he was happy. Only to hear 1.5 months later that there is this major problem. Am I liable? The boat was fine when he took it. And he signed an As Is contract.
