My jurisdiction is: Iowa

I was wondering if you filed bankrupcy in Minnesota how long do you have to wait to file bankrupcy in Iowa?

Bankruptcy is federal not state-- you have to wait 7-10 years on a chapter 7 you can file a 13 whenever--- almost no one gets to do a chapter 7 anymore so you may just want to talk to a bk attny

Wrong. Exemptions vary by state. Also, regardless of the fact that the judgment is made in a federal court, state laws are applied in making the judgment.

This is on exemptions -- The question was- filing in one state and filing again a few years later in a different state--- the rules on filing i.e. time, chapter etc.. Are the same.
