my wife 30 something was looking around in a wal-mart, florida. our 2yo baby likes watching dvd's in particular dora. she took it out of a case without my wife knowing then was detained with stiff arm scare tactics that if she didn't sign a paper stating she took the $20 dvd she'd go to jail & turn our daughter to childrens & family custody...with police there they refused her any phone call & did not read her rights until after...she DOES NOT HAVE ANY criminal record...in complication, she's here on a b1 visa pending green card status - i am a citizen...my wife was then released with notice that court documents will be mailed a week later & a do not trespass warning paper...what happens now & what should we do?
should i call the wal-mart store manager to request viewing the tape in hopes for clarification in order to settle the matter?
