This last Saturday i went car shopping and found a car that I wanted to purchase. I test drove it a few weeks ago and liked it very much. I took it home so that my wife could test drive it, and the check engine light and the traction control light both came on. The dealer fixed it, and on Wednesday I went back to test it again. I specifically told the salesman not to run my credit for the financing for two reasons, one - I wanted to make sure that everything was fine with the car, and I didn't want it to affect my credit if I was not going to go through with the purchase.
Wednesday night I received an email from my credit monitoring service letting me know that I had a new inquiry on my credit report. Low and behold, it was their dealership that had run my credit.
What they did dropped my credit score.
What leverage can I use against them in the purchasing of the car? Or if I do not go through with the purchase, what legal actions can I take against them?
