My family and I were assaulted in NYC in a camera lined building with armed security, however they werent on post, didnt alert the authorities, nor did they come to the scene of the incident. Can I sue the building management or the security company that supplies the guards?

You, as with any other person, are free to sue anyone you choose!!!!

That isn't the question you need to be asking.

You should want to know what your chances of recovery would be!!!

Ask yourself a few questions:
1 were you a resident or tenant;
2 were you merely a guest or customer;
3 were you trespassing;
4 what duty did the property owner owe to you;
5 what was your business on the property, if you weren't a tenant or resident?????

Those are just for starters.

I suggest you speak with a local attorney or two for free.

Most offer an initial consultation at no charge.

Yes this is a building we live in and we were attacked by other tenants.

Okay, did you report this attack to the police?

If you did, it could bolster your case.

If not, it could hurt your case.

I suggest you speak with a local attorney, as I instructed above.

I also suggest you seek protective orders against your attackers.

Again, speak with the police for directions on how to go about it.

If you haven't informed your landlord, I suggest you do so tomorrow.

You also need to be prepared to offer proof.

A police report would prove helpful.
