Sure but there is no guarantee. If the evidence is scant and a prosecutor's case would be difficult to make at the higher charge, the prosecutor is far more likely to deal. It's a matter of prosecutorial discretion. Just don't expect to waltz into the office and ask the prosecutor to reduce the charge just because you're a nice guy. You need reasons - either leverage that the prosecutor can't make the case, willingness to plead guilty to some other charge which would make the prosecutor happy so as to avoid the need for trial, no other prior convictions, etc.Can a person get the charges lowered for this charge??
