I am a 20 year old student in California. This past weekend I was in Santa Barbara, CA and was charged with a 647(f)- (Drunk in Public). I was held in jail over night, and upon my release I had to sign a citation in agreement of appearing in court in December. The officer told me that this citation shouldn't be a big deal and I would probably have to pay a fine under $200. However, in September 2007 (age 18) I was cited with a MIP (minor in possession of alcohol) in Berkeley, CA. My license was suspended for a year and I was charged a fine of $330 in November 2007 on the day of my court appearance. I believe the MIP was dropped after a year. (and the Santa Barbara officer made no mention of it during my background check) Will my previous infractions be taken into consideration when I appear in court in December? If not, what kind of fine am I looking at for the 647(f)? I am just trying to prepare myself for what kind of consequences I will have to face.

You should expect something about the same. Your prior incident may not even come up... this is a minor offense and they may not do much digging. Don't sweat it... pay up and be more responsible.
