Adultery over a year ago

I had an affair over a year ago, since we have been together, did theraphy, which was a laugh, Now a year later I want to end the marriage and he says that he can use the affair against me in the property and debt settlement, I have only worked part time and he has always been the money maker and carried the health insurance, since I live in Virginia, how does this work?
