Adult children's right to buy family property?

I am doing research for a friend whose mother recently passed away. Her mother lived next door to her mother and helped to take care of her. Her husband convinced her to put his name on the deed. This land has been in the family for years and now that his wife has passed away he wants to sell. He doesn't want to give his wifes daughter the opportunity to buy the house out of spite even though she wants to live there to take care of her grandmother and it is all she has left of her mother. This same man molested his stepdaughter (a whole nother can of worms!). Does she have any legal rights to the house? This house is in AL.
