If an employee is requesting a flexible start time due to a diabetic child who has morning fluctuations in their glucose level, would that be an ADA accommodation or FMLA?

More than likely, neither.

I suggest you Google the terms and educate yourself.

If it were FMLA, that's a temporary option.

ADA, not likely at all.

The employer isn't obligated to permanently accommodate the needs of your family members under ADA.

But, you can discuss your company's position on the matter with your HR Manager.

If it's anything, it would be FMLA. An employee is not entitled to an ADA accommodation for dependents.

As AJ indicates, FMLA is a limited option.
