My grandaughter was involved in an accident. There was minor damage to the other car but no injuries. the accident was her fault. She presented a valid insurance card but unknown to her her mother had failed to pay the premium and the insurance had expired. My grandaughter is 18 and living at home. The car belongs to and is registered to her mother.
What are my grandaughters options?
Should she contact the other driver and offer to pay the damages herself?
What are the chances that my grandaughter would be sued personally?
Her mother is not very responsible and I don't have much faith in her being any help.
