What is the law regarding "abandon"
property? How much time needs to pass before a property is declared "abandon"? Our NeighborLady was forced off her property by her daughter & son-in-law, who moved into the NeighborLady's home. They expect to declare the home ""abandoned" because the NeighborLady is no longer living on her own property. The NeighborLady wants to sell her property to us. How could the mess effect Our NeighborLady & us?

Laws are state specific. It is very unlikely they have a valid claim. Adverse possession in TN takes 7 years however the issue is not so clear cut. Here is a case illustrating the situation:
