Hello. Earlier today I got a speeding ticket for going 65 in a 60. I was actually going 80+, but the officer only marked me for 65. Will an infraction that is as minor as this affect my insurance? If it will, could someone please give me a brief explanation of a deferment request? I understand what it is, but I have never been to court before, let alone get a ticket, so I don't know how the process works. Do I check the mitigation box on the back of my ticket? Once there, must I plead guilty/not guilty? If so, when do I mention the deferment request?

Thanks for your time.

Hm, I entered the state/county this was in, but it did not show up. Just in case, this was in King County, Washington state.

Washington State Traffic Tickets

This one ticket should not effect your insurance. Most people would just pay this rather than trying to fight it in court. The officer has already given you a break.
