2 court dates same time different places!

I had courts date on the same day and time in 2 different counties. I contacted one of the courts and told them of my problem. They told me to contact my public defender. I left message after message with the PD (public defender) and never received any call back. I went to one of the court dates. Three days later I received notice that a warrant had been issued. I called the court and they said I would have to either ,pay a bondsman, Pay a non-refundable 50 dollar fee or turn myself in and wait to see the judge. I'm broke and don't want to have spend possible 90days in jail for this! Please is this legal? can they really jail me for me going to one and not the other???
