i'm sorry...i just checked, and i was wrong the first time. he was here on a visa that allowed him to get his masters', and then work. as long as he was sponsored by an employer, his status was good. but once he was laid off, his status lapsed. he never got a green card. my mistake.

well, it's not quite that easy. He's been here for over 10 years, had a career but company tanked due to recession. He doesn't want to give up everything he has here. He knows it would be easier to just go back...but he's hoping there is some way.

What can someone do who was here on a Green Card, but was laid off from their job over a year ago. He tried to find another job, but was unable to. Is there a way for them to get married to a US citizen without running the rist of being deported?
