Advice The loan is through SALLIE MAE it is a PRIVATE loan not a government loan. In 1997 SALLIE MAE also became a private company that is traded on NYSE. Many people think that SALLIE is a government entity it IS NOT. Do private student loans have the same SOL as my government student loans?

Are private student loans subject to the same terms and agreements as federal students loans, especially in regards to Statue of Limitations? If not what are the differences? Thanks.
