    Possible kidnapping???

I'm a little confused. How did you pay support if you didn't know where to send the payments? Also, did you try to file for custody of the children? Did you consult a lawyer?

    Possible kidnapping???

Four years is a long time with no contact. If you didn't provide any support for the children, that may count against you. Also, if you never attempted to get custody through the courts, then that may count against you as well. Truthfully, the grandparents may be able to argue that you abandoned...

    Possible kidnapping???

Have the grandparents filed for custody? How long has it been since you've seen the children? How old are the children?

    Retro Child Support

Yes, it is possible, but it depends on the state's laws, when the child support order was established, whether or not the mother was on state aid, etc. There is no way to tell you if any of that applies in your case due to the limited details provided.

You will have to be much more specific.

I it fair if I let her keep the money?

Is it fair? Well, actually you are legally required to continue to support your children. If you have been the primary wage earner, then you may also be required to continue to support your wife until the divorce is finalized. Do you have another job? You will be court-ordered to provide...

Sex Crimes, Sex Offenders Is he a sexual predator or not?

Yes, he is a sexual predator, although I'm not sure the federal law above applies. However, both Indiana and Texas have laws against internet/online solicitation of a minor. I'm assuming you are the child's mother. There are a number of things you should do now. Remove computer and phone...

A mom wanting her child back

This thread has gone on entirely too long. You were asked questions that you didn't bother to answer, you were given good advice by several members that you failed to consider, and then you were unappreciative of all the help you've been offered. Runaround??? When I reread the posts, it seems...

    Wife left lives with boyfriend

If you move the children at the end of the school year, she may be able to force you to return them. Even though neither of you can file for divorce in LA, I believe the state has jurisdiction over custody matters since the children will have lived there for 6 months. I think you need to consult...

I wish to become emancipated based on my situation.

You've gotten all the possible advice you can get. You've been given several options and avenues to pursue. You'll have to consider your options and go from there. Best of luck to you.

I wish to become emancipated based on my situation.

Not without establishing that you can support yourself. Did you read the link? One option is living with another responsible adult (your friend's family), AS LONG AS your parents agree. If you think they would agree to emancipation, then they would probably agree to living elsewhere.

Please Help! I wish to be Emancipated

Please don't start new threads on the same subject. BTW, your father did not need your consent to seek custody of you. He DID need a judge to agree that it was in your best interests to be in your father's custody, and apparently the judge agreed. Please check the link on your other thread.

I wish to become emancipated based on my situation.

Well, you don't meet the requirements for emancipation, but here's a link for information about the process. It's from Sacramento County, but it's probably the same or very similar to the county where you live: http://www.saccourt.com/family/emancipation/emancipation.asp There are also...

I wish to become emancipated based on my situation.

And will you be 18 in 2 days? If so, you only have to wait until you graduate from high school, presumably in June, then you can move out. An emancipation action would take longer than that. Try to grin and bear it for 2 more months. Good Luck

How old are you, and what state do you live in? Is 4-3-91 your birth date?

    Son hurt at day care

I'm a little confused. It seems that you don't really have a firm accounting of the events that led to your son's broken leg. How old are the children? What are you seeking from the lawsuit?

filing petition for custody and must serve papers

I agree with Theresa. I suspect that the person on the phone meant that if you arranged service yourself, rather than through the court, the court costs would be less. I doubt that the person meant that you should serve personally. You should also make sure that you know the proper court...

Can visitation be set up in court without attorneys involved?

That depends on where you live. You can google your state's or county's courthouse to see if they have the forms and other information online. Or, you can just go to your local courthouse and ask. The clerks should be able to point you in the right direction. Some states even have family law...

    Advice! Please!

Okay, but there isn't much he can do about it now. The divorce is final. He doesn't have to give her any more money than that specified in the court order.

    Maintenance/Alimony

That's impossible to guess without knowing your state, how long you've been married, your incomes, and perhaps a few other factors.
