Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Recently fired for theft from store

NO! do not write any letters! This letter can be used as confession. Far as what you "might" pay beyond the $516.00 I cannot say. In general stores do not apply the Civil Demand laws to Internal theft. If they do I expect that fine to be between $500.00 to $1000.00 depending on your states laws...

Your very lucky as this could easliy result in felony charges! If you cannot afford all the money at once make a payment arrangement to pay. Its important to make these payments on time. Any nonpayment or habitual late payments could provoke them into filing criminal charges

Some Police departments have sub stations at Malls. They are still Police and usually show up at all shoplifting stops. Once more its very odd that store would request Police show up if they were not pressing charges. Sending Police to their store for no reason is a waste of the Officers time...

Ok we do not know what they meant by that we were not there. It could mean no criminal charges were pressed and you only get a Civil Fine. We cannot say for certain. It seems odd that Police were called if they were not pressing charges. Was this in a Mall with a Police substation?

We cannot say if charges would be dropped or not. Based on what you say they have a strong case. You did not go to return area what you did was routine for a theft, or return fraud. Infractions are traffic tickets, jaywalking etc. theft is either a misdemeanor or felony.

First lets clear things up. You were arrested. The arrest was a citizens arrest by store. Now the Police came but gave you no citation? This is odd as it seem sfollish to call Police if charges are not beign pressed. Watch your mailbox in coming days for a letter with your court date

I agree its possible that a plea deal that drops your charge to misdemeanor in exchange for guilty plea is possible. However I suspect this will still involve a criminal record for you making retail work about impossible
