Even if your cases are similar you should not base your on anothers. Different counties, possibly states, Judges, Attorneys etc. You might get an idea of what will happen but there is no guarantee it will turn out the same

Diversion programs and their availabilty vary so you should contact a Lawyer and ask. Many offer free consultations so get as many as you can. I suspect (but again ask a local Attorney) you should qualify

If you choose to fight charge all evidence can be used against you this includes video, LP report, LP testimony etc etc

If you return item (as suggested and right thing to do) return item to a manager and get his/her name. document time, date etc. This proves return of item and might get case dropped although there is no guarantee. I suspect they will still want to seek Civil damages

If they contacted Police they can find you either through your debit card or license if they got your plate. If they filed a Police report expect Police contact in the near future.

Civil Demand is a civil fine,unrelated to any court fines. You should pay it right away. Discuss your case and what needs to be done with your Attorney
