Can HOA require Criminal Background Check?

I agree with you that this doesn't sound right. Even if the HOA President isn't gossip sally, I wouldn't want my teants info out their, unless you are making them aware that it does go tot he HOA. Do your tenants know that you run a background check? Can you ask your police friend if it is legal...

Late on rent, land lord left a threatening letter... Please help!

There is no way she can just come in your home and "place it on the front lawn". She has to go through the court to get the eviction started. You still have time to pay it, but I would do it before Friday!

    Backbilled $3,000.00 Dollars

I would contact your State Consumer Agency and telling them what is going on. It doesn't seem to me that you should have to pay for the 2 year mistake...shouldn't they have noticed like a year and 10 months ago? It doesn't take a company 2 years to notice that...

    Landlord won't return security deposit

If the state of NY says it just has to be a reasonable amount of time, maybe you should call the court clerk and ask what a reasonable amount of time is...is it 30days, 45 days, 60 days.......???

    security deposit not enough?

You should make sure you ahve all your evidence together and maybe go to small claims court to get the money back. Sometimes court appointed mediation will help as well. It is better to clear it up outside of court if you can.

    Landlord taking illegal possession

I think that because it is such a short amount of time left on the lease, it won't matter what you do. He is going to do what he wants. Maybe you could nicely try and make him understand that you need some time without people there working. That you will be out in 10days and he can return to do...

    Am I legally responsible?

If this goes to court you may want to consider a counter suit. But you should really sit down and weigh your options before going to court over it.

Inappropriate landlord conduct/ wrongful lease termination

If I were you, I would find a new place to live, maybe move your stuff into your moms house and stay there until you find a new place. If you are worried about your stuff being broken, you should move it out ASAP. Then you will not have the worry. Clean the room up to look amazing, and be done...

    Grounds for eviction?

I would imagine that yes he can start the process to evict you. I know it sound horrible as you are in the hospital, and you would imagine, as would I, that someone would take that into account. Especially after 5 years of renting with no problems. But, with the economic times the way they are...

Hello everyone. My husband and I are new to the site and have found ourselves in a perdicament we never could of imagined. First let me say my husband is military, and we have done all we can do with the JAG lawyer at this time. In Oct. of 2007 my husband and I moved into a townhome. At the...
