We go see our attorney this week. Hopefully, he will be able to help us as much as hers does. I'm tired of the system only working for the custodial parent and not the other. Especially when we make every attempt to work with her. I think she is just mad because her child was unwanted by my...

We are going to try to pay most of the arrearages before court in Dec. What I can't believe is that they will raise it for her but they won't lower it for him. He is making about $17,000 less than that year. Part of the problem is that he is self-employed. They will change it on a good year...

My husband filed a pro se for modification of child support. We filed first. Would she still be able to hire an attorney? Could we file for her to pay our attorney's fees? We are only hiring an attorney just because she hired one. I just don't want her to try to pull one over on us...

Does anyone know why an ex would give up her rights to have support office help with support? This is a paternity suit if that makes any difference. She can sign back up any time but has to pay a fee to do it. We filed for modification of support due to less wages, more cost of health...

Ex wants to terminate rights to get out of Support

You can not just terminate your rights. If you file for support, he will likely get visitation. Even if you agree, you have to have a step father willing to adopt the child and so on. It's not as easy as some people think. The court will not let him terminate his rights. He may decide to be...

Child support after 18 if in college?

Indiana, college is "post-secondary". I looked it up in the IN child support guidelines. So you should look up your state's guidelines. Some states, the emancipation age is different. Indiana is 21. Michigan is 18 or graduate whichever comes last. Good Luck.

Where did you get married the first time? I would think it would have been filed in that county (clerk's office) or state. Is there anyone like the minister or church you could contact? Good Luck.

    visitation modification

Pro se We wrote a letter to my husband's support office about filing pro se (yourself with no lawyer), they sent directions on what to do. When we filed pro se papers (in Indiana), we went to the county clerk's office. They didn't charge us anything but I'm not sure how it works where you...

Short Sale My husband and I are not in the middle of a divorce. We have been trying to sell our house for three years because we can no longer afford to live here- high utilities, high property taxes, etc. We finally had an offer for $15,000 less than we owed. We talked to our mortgage...

Can I do an audit on ex?

Child support after 18 if in college?

I have always been told "secondary school" means college. Why else would it be called secondary? I think your ex is trying to think of anything to stop paying. At least, your child is going to school. I have a step-daughter that thinks when you say it, it means you should keep paying...

    Child Support until what

Find out about your state's child support guidelines to say about how long you have to pay. Some states say 18 or graduation which ever comes last. Some states say 21 regardless (ex. Indiana). Some say as long as the child is enrolled full time in college. I would read his divorce papers...

Child support after 18 if in college?

Just have proof that she is enrolled in college full-time. I would file contempt of court for non-payment. As long as your decree says until 21 if in college. I don't know what state you are in. But I would check the child support guidelines. Sometimes, they change. If he fights it, he may...

    Alimony

We were trying to get his older daughter emancipated (which Indiana age is 21- no matter what). So unless you can prove certain things like not going to school (high school or college), being 18, lives out of the home, married, armed forces, you pay until then. Well, after the first attempt...

taxes When you go to court in Dec., ask about taxes. In my papers, I stated as long as my ex keeps current in his child support payments for the calender year, he could claim our son. If at the end of the year, he isn't current. I claim him. But I at least have a resposible ex who pays his...
