I recently received a speeding ticket in Texas and the vehicle information listed on it is not what I was driving.
I tried to contact the Judge to confirm the court date and ask about that. The machine in his office states that no long-distance calls will be answered. I do have a long-distance number and the phone number is never answered. So I wrote a letter asking some questions and when the judge call me back he did not leave a return number, so I called hid office number and he returned my called the next day. When asked about the vehicle info he was smug and stated that it came from a computer. I told him that I have to report tickets to my company and he said what I could do is write him a letter before the 30 days of the ticket date and ask him for a deferred dispostion (keep in mind I have lost two weeks because they do not answer their phone). Then, after 90 days he would check and see if I did not have any other tickets, if all was clear he would make the ticket go away. But this of course comes with a price, the ticket fee and an additional $25.
So the two questions I have are, 1) how can the ticket be "legal" without my correct vehicle info on it, and 2) is it "legal" to do this so-called deferred disposition? From his side and mine?

Help!

Susan
