Personal Bankruptcy Filing Bankruptcy when someone owes you money

I got into a horrible financial situation when I lost my job. Long story short, I sold my vehicle for 5000 to a friend who was going to make payments to me. Well he paid me 500 and then just stopped paying me about 3 months ago. I've been in contact with him and he just keeps saying he'll get me the money. I think I am going to have to sue him but I am trying to file bankruptcy. I sold it because I needed the money and now I don't even have that. Any advice?

The car has been sold to your friend (title has transferred hands) so you can sue him for non payment. It will not interfere with your bankruptcy filing.
