I was waiting forever in line, I'm a trucker. This other trucker was trying to piss everyone off. Eventually we did get angry. Because he wouldn't move. I confronted him and told him he's wasting everyone time. So he told me not to speak to him like that and then charged at me. He punched me several times once we hit the ground, don't even remember if I punched him back. I might have in self defense.
I got up and started walking away and said get back in ur truck man your wasting everyone's time... then he came at me again and we went to the ground. Was literally walking away and got charged a second time. So I ended up on top gave him 2 solid punches because I wanted the guy to stop attacking me.

the company who we were shipping for took both of our id's to file a police report and now neither one of us are allowed back on the property. I'm also fired, is self defense not okay? Why am I getting fired? Is there anything I can do?

There's no obligation for whoever owns (or controls) the property to allow you back in regardless of what transpired. Mutual brawling isn't self defense.

Threatening to file a police report largely means nothing. If the police do contact you, I'd advise that you not talk to them without an attorney involved.

It is fairly common, and it is legal, to fire both participants in a fight regardless of who started it, if that is your question. You are free to plead your case to your manager or HR but there is no legal obligation on their part to pay any attention.

Not self defense...... You used your mouth as a weapon. Why didn't you just let the people running the warehouse handle it. Of course they can fire you. You were fighting on the job. Of course they can trespass you off the property. You engaged in a fight where someone could of been killed. Good luck

is self defense not okay?

It's ok with me. Are you being criminally prosecuted or sued for what happened?

Why am I getting fired?

How would anyone here know? I mean...apparently you got fired because of the incident you described. I would think you'd stand a far better chance of getting a good answer to this question by asking your former employer than by asking strangers on the internet.

Is there anything I can do?

I'm sure you're capable to doing lots of things. You could report what happened to the police (if you haven't already done so). You could sue the guy who attacked you. You can seek another job. Is there something else you'd like to do?

I suspect that your real question is whether the fact that you were acting in self-defense can be used to prevent or rescind your termination. The answer to that question is no.
