KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A Central Texas high school football coach resigned Tuesday after it was discovered he was engaged in inappropriate electronic communications with a 17-year-old student, according to Killeen Independent School District.

KWTX has confirmed the coach in question is James Crossland and he was an assistant football and sub-varsity baseball coach at Killeen High School.

The district said he was placed on leave last week while it investigated the claims.

"He was placed on administrative leave and barred from the campus while district investigators worked with police authorities to search his cell phone and school computer for evidence of wrongdoing. The investigation confirmed that the coach had communicated with the student, who is a junior, with inappropriate electronic messages," district spokesman Terry Abbott said.

Crossland resigned Tuesday in lieu of termination, Abbott said.

Abbott said the district reported the incident to state investigators.

An elementary school teacher whose boyfriend volunteers at the school, has knowingly allowed and encouraged an 8 yr old girl in her class to communicate via phone with said boyfriend. Waiting to see what happens.

I am either naive, or have been very sheltered.

Neither of which I know to be true, but my mother taught school for 50 years.
My wife has taught school for 35 years.
I didn't experience school shootings or adult teachers sexually assaulting children.

Something has gone very wrong with this country.

Perhaps its time to teach children at home using online schools, which would require parents to supervise their off-spring.

At least it would eliminate school shootings and frequent teacher sexual assaults upon their charges.

I know quite a few home school families.

We had (allegedly) a lot of pervert coaches and teachers at my school. I heard from others older than me about a coach at the high school (he was long gone when I got to high school) who messed around with the high school girls. Another coach happened to be my sixth grade teacher's husband...she found out he was screwing around and I heard it was with high school girls. I'm not sure. I don't remember how old. They must have been over 16 which is age of consent and this was back in 94 I'd have been in sixth grade. She did divorce him and moved on.

Then when I was in high school we had a pervy algebra teacher. All the girls hated if we had a question. He came to your desk and leaned in far too close, putting his hand around the back of the chair and inappropriate comments. He was creepy. My older brother told me the geometry teacher would stop girls in his class who had large breasts and "read" their T shirts.

My basketball coach - rumors abound that he was screwing some of the girls on the team. He coached high school basketball at the time and I think track. I recall hearing how he and this one girl would go off on "walks" on their own during practice. He definitely did have his favorites. He no longer coaches high school teams (because he's a shitty coach). But someone who grew up in the town his wife did told me that he met his wife at his first teaching job and she was still in high school. They apparently got married after.

I do recall one time after a game I rode back in the van and it was just he and I (I thought others were going back too). There was such a creepy, tense vibe in there. Nothing happened but it was weird. He constantly flirted with some girls in class too.

The only time there was a teacher who got arrested at my school was after I graduated. I never knew him he started after I left but he got busted in an online chat room sting. He thought he was talking to a 14 year old girl...it wasn't. He was married with kids too...

Yep lots of creepers out there.
