A "mystery pooperman" who left daily unwanted deuces next to a New Jersey high school track was caught in the act -- and revealed to be a school superintendent.

Forty-two-year-old Thomas Tramaglini, of Matawan, was charged with lewdness, littering and defecating in public Thursday after police and school district officials set up surveillance to find out who had been defecating near Holmdel High School's football field and track.

Turns out, Tramaglini is the superintendent of the Kenilworth School District, about 30 minutes away.

"Given the nature of those charges, he asked for and was granted a paid leave of absence. (Leaves can only be without pay in the face of indictments or tenure charges, as a matter of state law.)," the district said in the post.

According to police, a school resource officer and staffers at Holmdel High School began surveiling the track after learning that someone was leaving feces on the track and football field "on a daily basis."

It was during one of the stakeouts that authorities allegedly caught the 42-year-old Tramaglini, of Matawan, in the act.

Police said that Tramaglini was running at the time fo his arrest. NJ.com, which first reported the arrest, school employees were monitoring the track before 6 a.m. when they spotted Tramaglini.

Police would not say whether Tramaglini was suspected in the other fecal finds at the track or how long employees had been staking out the field for the mystery pooper.

Looking at the Super Duper Pooper I think has has that LQQK.
He's on that stuff.

This is sick, but also funny.

I can imagine the chief of detectives telling her crew, "alright folks, we're gonna set up surveillance on the football filed and track of the high school. We're trying to catch the Pooper who's been dropping deuces all over creation.
This operation will be called, 'Deuces 22'."
