I just opened a new bank account, and feel that the situation is shifty. First when I opened it they didn't require the minimum deposit that the website says you have to have. Then they promised me a promotional the website says my account doesn't qualify for. Then they insisted I call social security while in the bank and have my monthly checks direct deposited to them from my other bank account right then. The guy said he has a special number they use that he gave to me to take home, then took it back before I left. Then the bank manager told me the wrong price for a safe deposit box, and the corporate office says that the price should be the same at all locations. Then I went in to ask for a cashiers check to pay my rent and the banker wouldn't do it. Instead he said he would print me 4 blank checks for my account, and only returned with 3 checks. I decided to go to another location of this same bank to open my safe deposit box, and the banker there told me they wouldn't bill me for 2 months, but they billed me that night. When I asked the bank manager why he said "I dont know why", and I asked the teller after I was done talking to the manager and the bank manager yelled from across the bank "they give you two months free"... a safe deposit box is an annual payment, not a monthly-- there shouldn't be two months free. But they already billed me that night anyway-- which is fine, but I'm upset I cant get a straight answer from anyone. This all happened in a 3 day period. Is this normal?
PS: I should mention that all of my identification documents came up missing from my apartment the last few months (ID, passport, car registration, birth certificate, etc) and I'm feeling really paranoid someone is going to try to wipe out my account. I told the banker and the teller all of this and they didn't seem to care. This reason is why I got a safe deposit box, because things keep coming up missing out of my wallet and apartment. I'm confused and don't know who I can trust anymore.
