Almost about to do something stupid. Help

Don't know what else to do so I thought I'd ask for some advise. I've been working for a company for many years. I was given I different job to do that would originally pay a lot more somewhere else. Been told months before the New Year that I would get a pay raise that hasn't happened yet. I have lots of vacation left that I don't want to lose and getting a new job is always a pain.

Been given the answer that I haven't received one yet cause they haven't talked about it. All through last year and a few times this year I have asked about it with my supervisor in the room over the phone that "it will be soon". Recently talked to one in charge in person by myself and finally got more to the answer. "You have not received it yet because it hasn't been discussed due to a lot of other people that haven't received any recent raises. We gave you a bigger year end bonus to help you out till you do and your on the top of my list." Was like okay and left it like that didn't get upset thinking of my kids went back to where I work and lost it. Couldn't breath, speak, think just wanted to leave and say I'm done. Took me over an hour to calm down and I'm assuming I had a panic attack.

My bonus was a little over $150 after taxes compared to last years where my raise would have given me over $1000 and well over $3000 if I would have gotten it when my position changed. I just got my tax return and this is what I'm thinking. Do one with what is on there vs one with the bonus I got last year then write a check back to the company and tell him I'm not doing it anymore here is my extra bonus and tell them I'm going back to what I was doing before my promotion. This will piss him off and likely get me fired.

I'm being cheated out of pay where they probably saved $10,000 + since I've been doing what I'm doing now. I'm tired of doing everything in the world for these people and not getting anything in return. This is a multi million dollar corporation not some small time place. They can afford it just don't want to. Just been lied to way too many times. Please help before I do something stupid.

Delay is the deadliest form of denial.

Face it, you aren't getting a raise. Period. Your employers are liars.

You have no recourse other than find yourself another job for higher pay if you can.

I spent 40 years in the working world and had to do that several times when my employers gave me the same song and dance about raises.

I learned a long time ago to work for money, not promises.

Forget about writing a check back to them. Stay calm and start looking for another if you wish.
If you like, ask to be moved back to your previous position if the raise is not going to be forthcoming. It will be much easier to get another job than if you make people mad and get fired.

The fact of the matter is, unless a legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA expressly and in so many words says otherwise, no employer is ever required to raise your pay under any circumstances. The one and only exception is if minimum wage is raised by an act of Congress or your state legislature, AND your current wage is below the new minimum.

I was once told by a very wealthy owner of several companies, we love it when we entice our employees into doing VOLUNTEER work for ME!

All I could do was smile, nod, and store away the useful revelation.

I always had a good laugh when a prospective employer offered me chump change while talking about potential.

Little, rickety cart, overloaded with items of owner's choice
Dusty, road loaded with potholes
Little, tired, overworked burro pulling the cart
Juicy carrot tied to a stick protruding three feet in front of the little burro

Don't be THAT burro!

This will piss him off and likely get me fired.

You don't want to do anything that will get you fired. In your case, your best bet is probably to look for other employment with higher pay but do it while you are still employed.
