Man and wife take a job building storage units for a man. Builder is $58k into project and has only received $40k from customer. Customer refuses to pay more until project is finished, so builder stops further work and red tags and liens project. Now its going to get a little sticky... Builder also bought a piece of property from customer which used to be an old salvage yard. Builder and wife were hauling off old scraps and garbage from the property and the customer saw them at the recycling center and he goes and presses charges against the builder for grand theft. He says that was his property that they were disposing of. The builders wife was not arrested and she was the one who actually collected the money from the recycling center...Opinion?

The opinions of uninvolved people don't matter.
I suggest you speak about this only with your lawyer and/or your spouse.
Work with your lawyer to craft the best defense possible, again only with your lawyer.
Seeking Internet opinions does you a disservice.

Generally, materials left on a property after closing revert to the new owner unless there is something specified which details how the material should be handled.

Who is the deeded owner to the property? Is there a bill of sale showing you purchased the property?
