time limit on bills

my husband passed away a year ago from complications from operation , is there any legal time limit to send his medical /hospital bills ? I have very small savings and need to repair my house , however I don't want to touch that money in case more bills come .
 
Several years. You should have probated his estate and settled the bills you knew of with the proceeds. Beyond that state law dictates whether you are liable for the remainder.
