I recently received a request by my ex-wife for a copy of my tax return that I am filing this year. To the best of my knowledge, the marital settlement agreement does not contain a stipulation stating that, if one party makes a request to the other party for a copy of tax returns, the other party is obligated to provide it. I don't see anything in the state of Wisconsin regarding this except if the court orders it (Chapter 767). I don't know why the request was made, and don't believe she would provide me with any reason to the request, but I suspect there could be several reasons including verification of my income, or to satisfy her curiosity to see how much money is coming into my household now that I have remarried. I am currently paying at a percentage rate so she wouldn't be able to get more, but do have back support that I am currently working on paying off.

Am I obligated to provide her a copy of this? Or, does she have to get it court ordered?

According to the child support agreement, how often are you suppose to submit income verification? Generally it is only every 2 or 3 years. If this is not specified I would not submit it.

If there's nothing in your papers about giving this to her then don't. If a judge wants to see your tax info he will have to request it. You don't have to give her any info that is not ordered by a court.
