I've been married for 30 plus years and just recently found out that my marriage isn't valid. My question is do we have to remarry or is the fact that we've been living as a married couple on all our legal docs constitute our marriage as legal?

Those documents are based on an invalid marriage as you state. In order to be legally married to need to remarry

The term "invalid marriage" has a very clear and distinct meaning under the law.

Why do you believe your marriage is invalid?

There are EIGHT reasons under California law when a marriage is declared invalid.

Read the information on this link:

http://www.courts.ca.gov/1037.htm

Does your situation fit ONE or more of those EIGHT statutory reasons?

I'll await your response.

Unfortunately none of those links pertain to my situation. I have been making a family tree and looked for records of my marriage and found nothing. I found my marriage certificate and noticed it didn't have a proper seal. I also looked up the supposed church the "Mimister" was affiliated with and it doesn't exist.

I thought I had. The so called minister brought all the paperwork and said he'd file it. I was pregnant at the time and he said that since I was there wouldn't be a need for a blood test so like Naïve kid I believed everything about him and that he'd handle the paperwork.

You didn't answer an earlier question how do you know its invalid? Did you check with county records to see if your marriage is listed?

I worried because Teamsters is requesting proof of our marriage in order to keep me on his medical but the worry is should I remarry and then show proof would we have to repay the cost of all my previous medical care including the surgeries I've had.

It wouldn't be difficult to remarry.
If what you report about your marriage is accurate, that isn't an invalid marriage.
You were defrauded by the "minister"!

Who obtained the original marriage license?
What was your age and his age at the time of the purported marriage?

I'm not sure your marriage is invalid.
I say that because of your most recent responses.

At this point, you might wish to discuss this with a local family law attorney.
It could very well be other legal issues brewing for you.

As I indicated, the term invalid marriage has a very definitive legal definition.
