Tuition Refund - Statute of Limitations?

In the Spring of 2009, I paid for a full semester of medical school; however, I withdrew from school to help care for my father with terminal cancer. I have since suffered with severe depression and have not been able to return to school. I never took any classes during the Spring of 2009 (since I was on independent study to care for my father, in hopes that later in the semester I would be able to attend my clinical rotations).

Is there any way, at this late date to try to get a tuition refund for that semester? I paid a semester's worth of tuition in the Spring of 2009 for education and training that I was not permitted to receive.

Does anyone know the statute of limitations for a tuition refund in Utah?

You would need to contact the particular school about this, but I would bet the answer is no. It is way too late for you to get anything.
It isn't that you were not permitted to receive the education and training... you willingly withdrew. I bet the school will produce documents that you signed during registration that address this issue.
A more timely request may have been honored, at least partially, but not now.

I should have been more specific and I left out one piece of vital information. While caring for my father, I failed the board exam that is a requirement before starting my third year rotations. Therefore, I was prevented from taking any courses that semester, but I still paid tuition. It was because of that that I was forced to either withdraw or be dismissed. So, I withdrew.

I assume if I had done something about it at the time, I could have had a case. Is there any chance I still have a case now? I paid full tuition (nearly $15k) but was not permitted to attend any classes and later in the semester, I withdrew.

Again, you need to contact the school and look into whatever documentation was done when you paid the tuition. Your answer lies there.

I strongly suspect you are way too late and probably only had 30 days or so from the start of classes that year.
