Hi I have a fix it ticket tat I fixed but I don't have the money to pay for it I got an extension and still didn't have the cash to pay it now I have court on monday not sure what to do or what will happen I don't ant to fight it I just need time to get money i am on a fixed income so pulling anything extra is really hard but I will be starting school where I will get some financial aid but that is not till the beginning of September, do I just ask for more time to pay I have never had a ticket before so I don't know what to do and I have tried to call the court but I get tons of automated messages no real people. It was for my brake lights being out the center and passenger side I had no clue they were out I think they burned out while I was driving cause the were working just the day before.
i ment messed up brain fart on my part

No need to go to court!

I take it the officer who issued the ticket did not explain the workings of a Correctible Offense, otherwise known to the rest of us as a "fix-it ticket" and making you unnecessarily worried about a matter that you have already taken care of and for which you do not even need to appear in traffic court on Monday.

The beauty of a fix-it ticket is that once the problem has been corrected before the date for arraignment, all the person has to do is either go to the nearest police station or ask a patrolling police officer to make a visual inspection of the correction. Once satisfied, the officer will sign the back of the citation attesting to the correction, after which the citation can be mailed to the traffic court with ( I believe) a $10 processing fee and that will be the end of the matter. You will be assessed fines and whatnot only if you fail to correct the offense for which you were cited.

So just ask a police officer to inspect and confirm the working condition of your brake light and sign off on the citation. Then send the ticket in with the $10 payment and be done with it.

At this point, it is probably too late for you to get the citation signed by an officer and avoid court. The court would not likely receive the citation before Monday when you are due to appear. However, if you do get the citation signed off simply appear in court and present the signed ticket showing the violation was corrected. As said, there will be some court fees to pay (likely more than $10... I would expect a minimum of $50).
If the problem has been corrected you will not have to pay the fees for the violation- only the court costs associated with the issuance and processing of the citation.

update: there was a temporary judge he dismissed it with no fines when i showed proof that it had been fixed so yay thanks for the input

That worked out good for ya but did you have any court cost fees?

Many jurisdictions are charging processing fees on fix-it citations even if you don't go to court, so there is really no way to avoid some kind of cost anymore.... unless you are in a jurisdiction that hasn't upped it's fees yet.
