im on juvenile probation i just turned 18 i have a felony for burglary on my juvenile record and i just recently got arrested and sent to adult jail for 2 charges that i had nothing to do with. what happened was my friend asked me to take her to pick up money from her friend so i did and it turns out that my friend got busted for selling to an undercover cop which i had no clue who he was i was just trying to help a friend out and take her somewhere so i got arrested and charged for transporting and conspiracy to commit a crime i just got bailed out this morning my court date is on june 3 and today when i got home cps made me sign custody over to my grandmother and told me im nowhere allowed around my kid. My charges are currently pending and im out on bail so i was wondering if i should stick with my public defender or should i get a lawyer. also am i going to have issues getting my soon back or seeing him if the charges are dropped.

You will know what you are allowed to do once CPS serves you. I have to tell you, if you test positive for anything ~ you'll be up the river, and they'll be holding the paddle.

i have been being tested since the day i was put on probation im currently taking parenting classes reqired by my p.o test are given to me weekly all have been clean & my p.o told me that my son cant go with his father because he's on informal probation for a posetion charge.

What?

That's nonsense.

Unless of course you and/or Dad have been proven unfit by legal standards.

Is that the case?

(Because frankly a possession charge is NOT reason to keep a child from its parent)

Okay, slow down and take one step at a time.
Your grandmother is going to take good care of your child.
You can rest easy about your child for the moment.
You have bigger problems, keeping your freedom.

Your juvenile record will have no bearing on this new charge.
So, rest easy again.

See what your public defender is all about, before you spend additional money tohire your own lawyer.
Do not be in a such hurry to dispose of this case.
Time is on your side.
So, sit back, obey the law, and let the system take its course.

You're innocent, until they prove you to be guilty.
From what you say, you did nothing illegal.
You gave a friend a ride.
You had no idea what the friend was going to do.
You are surprised by all of this madness and brouhaha.

Now, if your friend says the same thing about you, you'll have no problem.
On the other hand, if your friend says she was "scoring" some "meth" or "crack" for both of you to use; then you have big problems.
Did you test positive (after the arrest) for drug use?
If you ADMIT (after some long soul searching) that you have a drug addiction, things will go easier on you.
You will be given help and rehab.
You have a better chance of getting your child back, sooner, rather than later!
If you're lying now, and you lie in court; things will deteriorate rapidly and go SOUTH very quickly for you!!!

Either way, sit back, take a deep breath, and enjoy the circus that I've come to love, "criminal law".

As said above- it is up to the police to prove that you did something wrong. Just because you were arrested and sent to jail does not mean you did anything wrong, it means you are suspected of doing so.
You WERE driving the vehicle during the bust, and believe it or not people have been known to lie to the police to try to save their butts. Regardless of what you had to say, you were driving the car and they likely had legitimate reason to make the arrest.
Perhaps what you are saying is the truth, but the truth is something for juries to decide.
