Diet Pills and The FDA

Is it legal to create and market your own diet pills if they only consist of herbs like guarana, taurine, ginseng and some filler.

Im just loosely considering this venture, and thought that so long as something was herbal it did not require approval by the FDA.

Are there any rules you know about, any restrictions on where such and item could be sold?

Any information you can tell me would be appreciated.

Yes, just thinking about it. Would be 100% online, no tv, radio, or newspaper ads.

Keep in mind that there are tight laws about advertising. The FTC, not the FDA, governs the advertising of dietary supplements. FTC laws are different than FDA laws.

All else aside, establishing a manufacturing facility that adheres to the FDA's standards is cost prohibitive for a small scale operation. Best of luck to you.
