As far as I know, you can get a MIP as long as you are within an arms reach of alcohol. And I would assume that you can get one if a beer is in the car with you too. But Im no expert on this stuff.

I told one of my friends the other day about my MIP mishap, and he told me that if you are w/in 6 months of being 21 they will give you a "differed disposition" or something like that. Supposedly this lowers the consequences quite a bit. I am 4 months from being 21 so this was good news for me...
