okay. Do stores ever say that they have contacted the police without actually contacting them?

the police did not come but the store told me that they were called, I did not hear the lp make the call though. someone told me they may have told me that the police were called only to scare me, which sounds very unlikely to me.

Another question I have but forgot to ask. If I were being charged with a misdemeanor, would they have told me at the department store or would I find out via the letter or letters that I am getting in the mail?

Is there any other way of knowing if the police were called, or if a report was filed?

What is diversion? it seems to be a pretty important thing but i cnat find anything about it.

I live in MI and was caught stealing around $100 dollars in clothes at a department store. I have not heard anything yet but am assuming that i will be getting a civil demand, does anyone know when i can be expecting this?

what exactly is a civil demand letter? a type of fine from the store? and if they press charges, what will then happen?
