I was told that founders of a non profit can take a percentage of the income to survive off of. Is this true? If so, how much? :)

It depends on how you want to make money off of it. Like on Deviant art. artist sell their work on there, they advertise for jobs and stuff. I'm pretty sure none of them have started a business for it. It's all in what you actually want to do.
